About the Role:

Balfour Beatty seeks an experienced Overhead Line Trainer/Assessor to train and assess EHV overhead line personnel. This role covers UK-wide training and assessment, focusing on ensuring operational compliance and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver and assess OHL (Overhead Lines) training, meeting operational requirements.
  • Train, assess, and verify construction activities.
  • Develop and implement value-added training solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate governance and industry standards.
  • Maintain effective communication and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assess Overhead Linesmen for compliance with legislation and company standards.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and make necessary adjustments or develop new training materials.
  • Assess and manage OHL Vocational Qualifications & apprenticeships.
  • Deliver various training packages (e.g., rescue, climbing).
  • Create annual training programs for OHL activities.
  • Promote OHL training and seek work opportunities.
  • Deliver OHL training and assessments at the annual Winter Training school.
  • Travel throughout the UK and potentially internationally for OHL & VQ training.
  • Support a compliant and professional service aligned with company and P&OD strategies.
  • Develop professional capabilities through continuous professional development.

Skills and Expertise:

  • OHL industry experience at operative level.
  • Knowledge of client authorisations.
  • Significant OHL equipment maintenance experience and safety precaution application.
  • Knowledge of OHL maintenance/installation techniques and practices.
  • Understanding of the UK Electricity Transmission System.
  • Practical OHL maintenance and application skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage work teams (Person in Charge).
  • Previous training experience, knowledge sharing, development, and coaching of others.
  • UK driving license.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • (Desirable) IRATA certification.
  • (Desirable) D32/33 workplace assessor qualification.
  • (Desirable) Training and Assessment qualifications (e.g., CIPD/CPD).
  • (Desirable) Management or Supervision Qualification.
