About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to support a teenage boy with ASD and learning difficulties. This role involves providing care, companionship, and transportation to facilitate engagement in enjoyable activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Transporting the client to various destinations.
- Ensuring the client’s safety and well-being.
- Monitoring the client’s sensory needs and managing potential meltdowns.
- Preventing the client from putting inappropriate items in their mouth (Pica).
- Providing emotional support and building resilience.
- Supporting the client’s participation in activities and outings.
- Collaborating with the client’s family and other support staff.
- Respecting and maintaining client confidentiality.
- Adhering to a strict schedule for 8 hours per week over 13 weeks.
Skills and Expertise:
- Patience and understanding of individuals with special needs (ASD and learning difficulties).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong observation skills and ability to quickly assess and respond to situations.
- Experience handling sensory issues, Pica, and/or related conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Knowledge of relevant safeguarding guidelines.
- High level of dependability and time management skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances.
