About the Role:
Supporting a 20-year-old man with a learning disability and selective mutism to develop independent living skills, maintain relationships, and pursue interests. The role involves assisting with daily tasks and connecting him with opportunities in the local community. This is a great opportunity to engage with someone on a personal level and nurture their independence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with food shopping and healthy meal choices.
- Preparing meals and supporting with lunch at work placement.
- Prompting personal hygiene routines (washing, showering).
- Maintaining a clean living environment.
- Supporting family and friend relationships, setting boundaries.
- Developing independent living skills (e.g., shopping).
- Researching local football opportunities and activities.
- Assessing risks at home and in the community.
- Supporting paid work or work placement.
- Encouraging social participation and engagement.
- Supporting skill development.
Skills and Expertise:
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Patience and understanding.
- Organisational skills.
- Experience with supporting individuals with learning disabilities is desirable.
- Understanding of safeguarding procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Facilities/Benefits:
- Flexible hours (5-10 hours per week).
- Competitive hourly rate (14 per hour).
