About the Role:
We are recruiting Personal Care Assistants to support three 7-year-old boys in Cramlington. This role involves providing care and assistance both at home and in the community, enabling the boys to participate in meaningful activities and daily routines. This role is perfect for experienced, patient, and enthusiastic individuals with a passion for supporting children with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with personal care (washing, dressing, mealtimes).
- Support access to community activities (woodland walks, beach visits, etc.).
- Engage in meaningful activities both at home and in the community.
- Provide constant supervision to one child who has a heightened need for supervision.
- Ensure adherence to safeguarding and health and safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records and communication with families.
- Maintain flexibility to cover holidays and sickness.
Skills and Expertise:
- Experience working with children with disabilities and challenging behaviours (preferred).
- Genuine interest in working with children with complex needs and developmental delays.
- Understanding of non-verbal communication and body language.
- Knowledge of Makaton (desirable).
- Understanding of sensory needs and their impact on daily life.
- Physical fitness and ability to act quickly as needed.
- Punctuality and reliability.
- Respect for confidentiality.
