About the Role:
As a Pharmacy Technician in Cheshire East, you’ll play a key role in supporting the integrated prescribing model within the PCN. Your skills and enthusiasm will be crucial in delivering high-quality patient care and optimizing prescribing support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safe processing of medication requests.
- Issuing prescriptions after thorough checks (including blood results, INR, QOF coding).
- Handling patient requests and inquiries within 48 hours.
- Encouraging and supporting electronic prescribing.
- Reviewing hospital discharges, letters, and medication recommendations.
- Informing patients about upcoming blood tests, BP checks, and medication reviews.
- Updating patient electronic records.
- Providing telephone consultations for medication queries.
- Supporting the prescribing duty doctor with requests.
- Liaising with clinicians in secondary care.
- Initiating practice policies for safe prescribing.
- Developing close relationships with GPs.
- Acting as a clinical coordinator to achieve Quality Outcome Framework points.
- Working autonomously while adhering to protocols.
- Prioritizing workload effectively.
- Handling patient queries and issues.
- Performing face-to-face medication reviews.
- Providing patient education materials.
- Contacting patients after drug alerts.
- Direct patients into medicine management routines.
- Understanding and using practice computer systems according to protocols.
- Undertaking practice audits and identifying areas for improvement.
- Contributing to system changes (national and local).
- Maintaining a broad understanding of the prescribing team and the practice.
- Contributing ideas for service improvement.
- Undertaking the Pharmacy Technician Pathway.
- Actively participating in regular meetings with the Senior clinical pharmacist.
- Providing a high standard of professional conduct.
- Participating in the practice’s appraisal scheme.
- Taking responsibility for personal development and performance.
- Undertaking required training (mandatory, statutory, core skills).
- Alerting management and team members to quality and risk issues, taking appropriate action.
- Working effectively with external agencies.
- Effectively prioritizing, organizing and managing time, workload and resources.
- Identifying and managing risks associated with work activities.
- Complying with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Reporting clinical and non-clinical incidents.
- Using computers safely and appropriately.
- Understanding safeguarding responsibilities.

Skills and Expertise:
- Pharmacy Technician qualifications.
- Experience with medication processing and prescription issuing.
