About the Role:

South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) seeks a skilled Fitter-Plumber to join their Estates team. The position requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of domestic and commercial building maintenance to ensure the smooth operation of our hospital sites and community properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance, reactive maintenance, and emergency works, adhering to safety protocols and cost-effectiveness.
  • Understand building systems and engineering services, maintaining them to a high standard, and utilizing equipment efficiently.
  • Complete work orders promptly and accurately, ensuring all associated information is recorded.
  • Collaborate effectively with departmental teams and support colleagues across disciplines.
  • Provide maintenance services to all Trust buildings, off-site properties, and work independently.
  • Maintain service continuity, adapting to varying work patterns and locations as needed.
  • Stay current with relevant legislation and attend training courses.
  • Work safely in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven experience as a Fitter-Plumber with a strong understanding of domestic and commercial buildings.
  • Familiarity with building structures, fabric, fire compartmentalisation, and fire door maintenance.
  • Ability to manage work, materials, and tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Knowledge of maintenance checks in line with Approved Code of Practice (Building Regulations, HBN & HTM).
  • Strong ability to work independently and as part of a team.
