About the Role:

Join a dedicated team of midwives at Edith Date Ward, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, to provide exceptional care to mothers and newborns in London. This vital role focuses on postnatal and transitional care, offering opportunities for skill development, especially in neonatal care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive midwifery care to in-patients during the postnatal period.
  • Act as a prime care provider in all aspects of midwifery care.
  • Ensure 24-hour ward coverage through flexible day/night rotations.
  • Offer expert clinical advice and guidance to women, babies, and families.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the ward, including multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Mentor qualified midwives, students, and support staff.
  • Collaborate with ward managers, matrons, patients, and user representatives to improve services and address feedback.
  • Manage staff, recruitment, health and safety, audits, and standard setting.
  • Maintain a high standard of evidence-based care in a specific area.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Expert clinical midwifery skills.
  • Experience in postnatal care.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of national and local initiatives relevant to maternal care.
  • Mentoring experience (preferred).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
