About the Role:
This interim role will focus on the strategic commissioning of substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery services in Shropshire. The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of the Shropshire Substance Use Strategy and support the local Tackling Drugs and Alcohol Partnership Group.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commission a substance use prevention, treatment & recovery system, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based services are delivered effectively and efficiently.
- Lead and deliver a rolling cycle of commissioning strategies following a defined commissioning cycle.
- Implement service improvements and evidence-based models of care to create a high-quality substance use recovery system.
- Use research and technical expertise to support service improvement and project development, coordinating activity into new ways of working.
- Negotiate changes to service contracts in conjunction with relevant stakeholders and explore innovative service delivery approaches.
Skills and Expertise:
- Degree in health, care, or a relevant field, or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years).
- Full and valid UK driving licence with the ability to travel across the county, and regionally/nationally.
- In-depth knowledge of substance use technical guidance, strategies and evidence.
- Understanding of the broader public health agenda.
- Extensive experience leading drug and alcohol strategic and commissioning programmes.
- Experience in commissioning and procuring substance use services.
- Strong programme and project management skills.
- Experience using project management tools.
