About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Interim Physical Infrastructure Regeneration Principal Lawyer to manage a diverse caseload of complex legal matters related to regeneration projects in Greater Manchester. This role requires strong leadership and communication skills to inspire confidence in clients and effectively manage a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and motivate a legal team, allocating and managing work to achieve project targets.
  • Manage a complex caseload of legal matters related to planning, highways, and regeneration.
  • Ensure positive personal and professional development of team members.
  • Procure training for legal staff and clients on specific legal topics.
  • Contribute to strategic, developmental, and client-related issues.
  • Influence stakeholders to achieve beneficial outcomes for the shared legal service.
  • Deputise effectively in dealings with clients and casework matters.
  • Build and maintain excellent client relations, providing timely legal advice.
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen and judgement for effective decision making and project delivery.
  • Demonstrate awareness of corporate responsibilities and work cooperatively with others.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Solicitor with current practising certificate, Barrister with completed pupillage, or Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives.
  • Knowledge of local government powers and governance.
  • Significant experience in public/administrative law, planning law, highways law, compulsory purchase and compensation.
  • Experience in town and village greens, community right to bid, regeneration/development, contract, property, and housing law.
  • Understanding of information governance.
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in planning, highways, compulsory purchase, and regeneration.
  • Ability to quickly learn new areas of law relating to regeneration.
