About the Role:
Support students’ academic and personal development as a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant at a ‘Good’ secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position starts in March and could become permanent. Ideal for recent graduates considering a career in education, special educational needs (SEN), or child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored support to students with varying needs, including SEN and social, emotional, and mental health challenges.
- Assist in the classroom under teacher direction across multiple subjects and year groups.
- Offer one-to-one and small-group interventions to help students achieve academic and personal goals.
- Support students with emotional regulation, focus, and resilience.
- Develop and adapt resources to meet individual student needs and ensure inclusivity.
- Monitor and document student progress, providing feedback and contributing to reports.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral staff to support student well-being.
- Contribute to school support initiatives, such as mental health events, peer mentoring, or social skills workshops.
Skills and Expertise:
- Degree in Psychology or related field.
- Interest in child and adolescent development, SEN, or mental health.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Empathy, patience, and adaptability to diverse student needs.
- Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving abilities.
- Passion for education and supporting young people.
- Full-time availability from March to the end of the academic year.
