About the Role:
The University of Sheffield seeks a Research Associate to contribute to a Leverhulme-funded project investigating women’s roles in Japanese film and media. This two-year position involves in-depth research, analysis, and collaboration with the project team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Principal Investigator and project team in collecting and recording interviews in Japan and online.
- Collaborate with local researchers to conduct research and create a 60-minute research film.
- Contribute to the creation of a collected edition book and co-author at least one journal article.
- Conduct frequent travel to Asia.
- Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
Skills and Expertise:
- PhD (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Developing research profile.
- Proven ability to work within an interdisciplinary research environment.
- Strong understanding of Japanese film and media.
- Fluency in Japanese language.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with filmmaking/creative practice (preferred).
