About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and inspiring Residential Childcare Support Worker to join our established team in Heysham or rural North Lancashire. This casual role allows flexibility and supports young people aged 8-18 with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties. You will play a crucial role in creating a safe and positive environment for the children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Exceed National Standards laid down by Ofsted as a Childcare Worker and Key Worker.
  • Ensure high-quality childcare for resident children.
  • Systematically improve the lives of resident young people.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, friends, and other relevant parties.
  • Foster a culture of trust and mutual respect within the home.
  • Develop appropriate care plans for each young person.
  • Adhere to all legal requirements, Ofsted standards, and Bay View Childcare policies.
  • Communicate feedback and concerns to management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment.
  • Build trusting relationships with children, understanding their needs.
  • Create a positive and inclusive environment.
  • Actively supervise and keep children safe.
  • Manage and de-escalate conflict situations.
  • Proactively communicate issues to management.
  • Conduct risk assessments for activities.
  • Participate in activities with children.
  • Discharge responsibilities as a Key Worker.
  • Maintain regular communication with families.
  • Remain positive and supportive.
  • Contribute to reviews of children.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures; complete paperwork.
  • Ensure quality of food provided.
  • Assist with cooking and purchasing of food items (as required).

Skills and Expertise:

  • Diploma Level 3 in Working with Children & Young People
  • Full UK driving license
  • Over 21 years of age
  • Experience working with children with social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties (preferred)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong understanding of child development
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with children and families
  • Commitment to safeguarding children
