About the Role:

North Lakes Children’s Services seeks dedicated Residential Support Workers to join their team, supporting boys aged 6-18 in a residential care setting. This role requires a warm and approachable individual passionate about making a positive impact on young people’s lives and fostering their development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting daily routines, including hygiene, meals, and school/activities
  • Promoting personal growth, life skills, and independence
  • Facilitating socialisation and bed-time routines
  • Attending medical/other appointments
  • Supporting activity plans and completing daily tasks
  • Completing daily paperwork and handover documents
  • Managing budgets and completing household tasks
  • Completing safety checks (COSHH, fire, car)
  • Liaising with families and planning family time
  • Acting as a Keyworker, building strong relationships and creating positive experiences

Skills and Expertise:

  • Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People’s Workforce, or NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent (or willingness to obtain)
  • Excellent communication and listening skills
  • Flexibility in availability, including sleep-in shifts and a 14-hour shift pattern
  • Understanding of the issues facing young people in care
  • Ability to work well within a team
  • Willingness to undertake a DBS check
  • Experience with Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work (advantageous)
  • Full, clean UK driving license (for potential travel to other homes)
