About the Role:

Provide skilled perioperative care as part of a multidisciplinary team. Supervise qualified/newly qualified and student nurses. Communicate effectively with all team members, patients, and visitors, ensuring positive relationships and excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide skilled perioperative care to patients.
  • Supervise qualified/newly qualified and student nurses.
  • Communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and visitors, promoting positive public relations.
  • Apply specialist knowledge to diverse procedures in an acute clinical area.
  • Ensure a conducive environment for optimum perioperative patient care.
  • Provide care to a designated caseload of patients, analysing, assessing, and making clinical judgements.
  • Support junior staff during patient care process.
  • Safely use complex equipment and pharmaceuticals.
  • Adhere to NMC/HCPC legal requirements.
  • Occasionally take charge of the operating department in the absence of a theatre sister.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Proven experience in providing perioperative care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant clinical procedures.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
  • Thorough understanding of legal requirements for nursing and midwifery.
