About the Role:
Provide skilled perioperative care as part of a multidisciplinary team. Supervise qualified/newly qualified and student nurses. Communicate effectively with all team members, patients, and visitors, ensuring positive relationships and excellent patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide skilled perioperative care to patients.
- Supervise qualified/newly qualified and student nurses.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and external agencies.
- Communicate effectively with patients, relatives and visitors, promoting positive public relations.
- Apply specialist knowledge to diverse procedures in an acute clinical area.
- Ensure a conducive environment for optimum perioperative patient care.
- Provide care to a designated caseload of patients, analysing, assessing, and making clinical judgements.
- Support junior staff during patient care process.
- Safely use complex equipment and pharmaceuticals.
- Adhere to NMC/HCPC legal requirements.
- Occasionally take charge of the operating department in the absence of a theatre sister.
Skills and Expertise:
- Proven experience in providing perioperative care.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Advanced knowledge of relevant clinical procedures.
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior staff.
- Thorough understanding of legal requirements for nursing and midwifery.
