About the Role:
Minerva Learning Trust seeks a dedicated SENDCO to lead the development of support and teaching provision for students with additional needs in Dunston Primary & Nursery Academy and Whittington Moor Infant and Nursery Academy. This key role will strategically direct SEND support, ensuring the schools meet statutory duties and maximise student potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction for SEND support in both schools.
- Develop, implement and review SEND provision.
- Ensure all pupils with additional needs fulfil their potential.
- Work with senior colleagues to influence curriculum and support.
- Participate in wider Minerva Learning Trust networks.
- Comply with statutory duties and legal requirements relating to SEND.
- Communicate effectively with families and external agencies.
Skills and Expertise:
- Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team
- High expectations for student learning, independence, and behavior
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with young people, parents, and colleagues
- Knowledge of SEND legislation
- Proficiency in providing clear and accurate advice to families and external agencies
- Willingness to complete the National Award in Special Educational Needs Co-ordination (NASENCO) or enroll in the National Professional Qualification (NPQ) if not already certified
