About the Role:

Minerva Learning Trust seeks a dedicated SENDCO to lead the development of support and teaching provision for students with additional needs in Dunston Primary & Nursery Academy and Whittington Moor Infant and Nursery Academy. This key role will strategically direct SEND support, ensuring the schools meet statutory duties and maximise student potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction for SEND support in both schools.
  • Develop, implement and review SEND provision.
  • Ensure all pupils with additional needs fulfil their potential.
  • Work with senior colleagues to influence curriculum and support.
  • Participate in wider Minerva Learning Trust networks.
  • Comply with statutory duties and legal requirements relating to SEND.
  • Communicate effectively with families and external agencies.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • High expectations for student learning, independence, and behavior
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with young people, parents, and colleagues
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation
  • Proficiency in providing clear and accurate advice to families and external agencies
  • Willingness to complete the National Award in Special Educational Needs Co-ordination (NASENCO) or enroll in the National Professional Qualification (NPQ) if not already certified

Job Facilities/Benefits:

  • Teachers Main Pay Range MPR/UPR + TLR2B
