About the Role:

National Highways seeks a Senior Communications Manager to join the Regional & Corporate Communications team in the South West, overseeing and coordinating communications strategies for regional projects. The role demands a collaborative approach to ensure all communications align with National Highways’ strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate communications plans via matrix working, drawing on specialist functions and evaluating activity.
  • Become a subject matter expert on the region, its role, and benefits for customers, businesses, and communities.
  • Identify potential reputational risks and opportunities, developing mitigation plans with regional directors and senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with project, programme, and supply chain teams to deliver impactful communications for core campaigns.
  • Support the delivery of key business publications, reports, and initiatives, coordinating activities across the Communications Group.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Teamwork and ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • Building trusted relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders.
  • Developing communications strategies for key corporate publications and reports.
  • Strong writing, briefing, presentation, and communication skills, with a digital media and social media awareness.
  • Understanding of the transport and roads sector’s role in the local, regional, and national economy.
