About the Role:
As a Senior Data Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of high-quality data solutions for Hastings Direct’s data systems and platforms. This role is critical in supporting the company’s ambitious growth plans, leveraging cutting-edge technologies like Snowflake and Azure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the delivery of high-quality data solutions across Hastings data systems and platforms, including new or changed data sources, data flows, automated processes and database structures.
- Build and manage a Snowflake ecosystem to support streaming and batch workflows, and enable end-user teams to access data, build reports, and leverage automation tooling.
- Ensure data processes are automated and observable, adhering to platform standards.
- Engage with users regarding SQL and Python best practices for Snowflake, recommending and implementing new data structures and physical data layouts to improve performance.
- Support the adoption of generative AI tools and techniques, and lead platform innovation with Snowflake and Microsoft technologies.
Skills and Expertise:
- Proven senior-level experience.
- Strong experience with Snowflake (SQL scripting, DDL, DML, task orchestration, integration management).
- Strong experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure DevOps (ETL orchestration, Git integration, CI/CD).
- Experience with Python.
- Experience working in an Agile environment, utilising methodologies such as Scrum/Kanban/BDD/TDD.
- Proven ability to solve complex data problems with accuracy.
