About the Role:

Join DWP Digital’s Health & Disability team as a Senior Site Reliability Engineer and contribute to building and maintaining crucial digital solutions used daily by UK citizens. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production systems to maintain reliability, scalability, and performance.
  • Act as the gatekeeper of production systems, maintaining operational excellence.
  • Develop and support cloud-based applications in AWS.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Manage capacity and performance through monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Develop automated solutions to prevent recurring problems using scripting, infrastructure, and configuration as code.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to provide feedback and support.
  • Lead initiatives to automate low-value tasks balancing project delivery demands.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Demonstrable experience with automation tools for scripting, infrastructure, and configuration.
  • Experience in reliability engineering, capacity, and performance management.
  • Proven experience supporting live services.
  • Demonstrable experience with cloud platforms and monitoring tools.
  • Experience developing and supporting cloud-based applications in AWS.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with technologies like Terraform, Ansible, Java, JavaScript, MongoDB, Docker, JSON, YAML, SQL, Git, GitLab CI, Jsonnet, Libsonnet (preferred, not essential)
