About the Role:

Lead the hearing support team in Oldham, providing leadership and management for children and young people with hearing impairments. Ensure the team delivers the best possible support and works effectively with partners, parents/carers, and schools/settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the HI Specialist Teaching Service, with a reduced caseload.
  • Ensure the Specialist Teaching Service supports the best outcomes for children and young people with hearing impairment (HI) needs.
  • Lead the service through effective supervision and identification of priorities to work directly with children, young people, families, schools/settings, and health partners.
  • Ensure effective transitions between settings for all children and young people with HI needs.
  • Promote support for HI through the development of a network of provision across the borough.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Teacher of the Deaf qualification.
  • Excellent leadership abilities and experience.
  • Knowledge and experience of implementing inclusive provision for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of legislation and guidance related to the SEND Code of Practice.
