About the Role:

Become a dedicated Support Worker for a 28-year-old man with autism, epilepsy, and a severe learning disability, in Horley, Surrey. Support him in achieving his personal goals and aspirations, fostering his independence and well-being within a supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent support and care based on the individual’s support plan.
  • Encourage and support the individual to develop independence through empowerment, active support, and positive risk-taking.
  • Manage behaviours of concern through effective strategies (PBS or ABA preferred).
  • Accompany the individual on outings, including walks, swimming, and other activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and communication with the support team.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing needs and situations.
  • Work effectively in a team, collaborating with other support staff.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual at all times.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and/or epilepsy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of person-centred approaches.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours (PBS/ABA experience desirable).
  • Patience, empathy, and compassion.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to diverse situations.
  • Valid clean driving licence (for use of the individuals car).
  • Experience with lone working.
