About the Role:
Become a dedicated Support Worker for a 28-year-old man with autism, epilepsy, and a severe learning disability, in Horley, Surrey. Support him in achieving his personal goals and aspirations, fostering his independence and well-being within a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consistent support and care based on the individual’s support plan.
- Encourage and support the individual to develop independence through empowerment, active support, and positive risk-taking.
- Manage behaviours of concern through effective strategies (PBS or ABA preferred).
- Accompany the individual on outings, including walks, swimming, and other activities.
- Maintain accurate records and communication with the support team.
- Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing needs and situations.
- Work effectively in a team, collaborating with other support staff.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the individual at all times.
Skills and Expertise:
- Experience supporting individuals with autism, learning disabilities, and/or epilepsy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong understanding of person-centred approaches.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviours (PBS/ABA experience desirable).
- Patience, empathy, and compassion.
- Flexibility and adaptability to diverse situations.
- Valid clean driving licence (for use of the individuals car).
- Experience with lone working.
