About the Role:
Join Oldham Council’s hearing support team as a Teacher of the Deaf. This role focuses on providing crucial support and advice to children and young people with hearing impairments, working with families and educational settings to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality support to deaf and hearing-impaired children and young people across the borough through a peripatetic/outreach model.
- Develop children and young people with hearing needs through close collaboration with families, including home visits and early intervention.
- Support child and family-centered activities and partnership working with other agencies.
- Employ creative strategies to remove barriers for children and families, enabling learning and development.
- Develop opportunities and multi-agency projects for sensory needs.
Skills and Expertise:
- Qualified Teacher Status and relevant experience in schools/settings
- Teacher of the Deaf Qualification or willingness to complete training
- Ability to manage a caseload and provide specialist support and advice to schools, parents, and carers
