About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated Teaching Assistant to join our Maths and English department in Highbury, Portsmouth. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience in a rewarding educational setting and potentially transition into a teaching career. You will be a crucial part of our team, working with students and supporting their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor student progress and behaviour, and support students in achieving learning goals, as directed by the Curriculum Manager and teaching staff.
  • Deliver one-to-one and small group programmes to support student learning and development, outside the classroom, as directed.
  • Communicate regularly with teachers and the Curriculum Manager on student progress and any concerns.
  • Support students with learning barriers to access the curriculum, fostering independent learning skills.
  • Assist in the preparation and adaptation of teaching materials.
  • Lead pre-prepared set work for whole-class groups and support students in their work during staff absences.

Skills and Expertise:

  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • A level or equivalent in relevant subjects.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or willing to work towards qualification.

Job Facilities/Benefits:

  • Salary: 15,326.77 – 15,995.95 actual salary, 22,300 – 23,277 Full-Time Equivalent
  • 30 Hours per week, 36 working weeks per year
