About the Role:
TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEMH Teaching Assistant for a long-term/permanent position at an all-aged school in Walsall, supporting vulnerable students with Autism and SEMH needs. The role focuses on developing personalized support plans, de-escalating challenging situations, and promoting a safe learning environment for primary-aged students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop personalized support plans for students with Autism and SEMH needs.
- Implement strategies to de-escalate challenging situations.
- Assist teachers in developing and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual student needs.
- Provide 1:1 and group learning support to students with additional needs.
- Promote a safe learning environment for students.
- Care for students physical, social, and mental welfare.
- Adapt teaching support according to individual student needs.
Skills and Expertise:
- Level 3 qualification and/or 6+ months experience in an educational setting.
- Calm, patient, and caring demeanor.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good understanding of child protection and safeguarding guidelines.
- Experience working with students in 1:1 and small group settings.
- Effective behavior management skills.
- Effective communication with internal staff.
