About the Role:

Portsmouth City Council seeks a motivated Trainee Contracts Officer to join our Adult Social Care (ASC) team on a fixed-term contract or secondment for up to 12 months. This role is critical for supporting the efficient delivery of contracts and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring contracts for procured services.
  • Work closely with commissioners and service providers.
  • Support the development of service specifications and contracts.
  • Contribute to service improvement activities.
  • Support the development and implementation of contracts for Public Health and Social Care services.
  • Ensure appropriate contracts are developed, put in place, and monitored on time.

Skills and Expertise:

  • Experience in office-based employment, ideally in Health and Social Care.
  • Understanding of collaborative working with stakeholders in the commissioning and contracting process.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in a pressured environment.
  • Knowledge and/or experience of tendering and contract management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Trustworthy, reliable, and confident personal qualities.
  • Demonstrate fairness, innovation, achievement-orientation, and sensitivity to public sector working.
  • Ability to work in an anti-discriminatory way and handle confidentiality, human rights, and data protection requirements.
